About Us
Mullion Cove is the creation of one person’s passion for Cornwall and Food. Our director Sophie Bowden was brought up in Cornwall and since leaving the county and living for years in the big smoke, she discovered that there was little representation for her favourite artisan Cornish producers in London and beyond. So after a lot of research and product sourcing, she decided to leave London and settle in Bristol to start her own business bringing the small Cornish producer out of the county and into areas they wouldn’t necessarily receive coverage. By taking Cornish food and drink to Bristol and its surrounding areas, Mullion Cove has managed to introduce a unique experience to the local consumer with its market stall full of the best of Cornwall. And now with the Mullion Cove website, we are able to go much further with our quest!
Mullion Cove is devoted to sourcing the finest products currently made in Cornwall by small producers. Many of the products we source are made by producers usually located off the beaten track and often sold only locally to small farm shops and/or sold at Farmers’ markets. These artisan producers often use recipes that have been handed down by generations, local ingredients, traditional methods and most importantly, an honest love for what they do. None of what we sell is mass produced or factory processed.
Why is the business called Mullion Cove?
It’s one of our favourite spots in Cornwall and we wanted a name that instantly took people to a place which reminded them of the beautiful Cornish countryside, hot sandy beaches and clotted cream and pasties. Mullion Cove is located on the Lizard peninsula and is a tranquil haven for visitors who want to veer away from other loud seaside resorts and enjoy a small fishing harbour still untouched by major harbour side developments and supermarkets. A place that reflects the businesses ethos and embraces the true heart of Cornwall.
