Mullion Cove was founded by Sophie Bowden in the summer of 2009. Sophie’s passion for local food inspired her to leave London to set up a business in Bristol promoting Cornish food and drink. Her interest in baking started at a young age when she would make afternoon tea for her family every Sunday. Scones, donuts and cake featured heavily on the menu and her natural baking ability meant she was always experimenting and trying new recipes.
She is also co-director of CASUS, who specialise in outdoor food and drink events and when she’s not baking in the kitchen or running an event, she enjoys foraging in the countryside and indulging in good food and wine with her friends.
Mullion Cove started as a business selling Cornish produce in Bristol. Sophie would travel back home to pick up the finest food and drink from her favourite Cornish producers and sell them on a market stall in Bristol. A keen baker, she also started to make her own Cornish ginger fairing biscuits to complement the other Cornish products and soon discovered a demand for her biscuits. She now concentrates solely on her own recipe biscuits, baking them to order on Bristol harbourside for local delis, hotels, pubs and cafes. See a list of stockists here.
